TRAINING
Training sponsored by the Arizona Center for Disability Law and DIRECT Center for Independence

In 2017, the Arizona Legislature amended the Arizonans with Disabilities Act (AzDA). This law prohibits private businesses open to the public from discriminating against people with disabilities. AzDA requires equal treatment, effective communication, removal of architectural barriers from existing businesses, constructing new buildings in an accessible manner, and making reasonable changes to policies and practices. Last year, the Arizona Legislature added a requirement that people with disabilities provide advance notice to business owners before they file a lawsuit under AzDA. This presentation will answer your questions, such as:
 When do I need to file a notice?
 May I file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office without filing a notice?
 What information should be included in a notice?
 What if the business owner does not respond?
 How long should I give a business owner to respond?
